    Richard Lee Miller, 77, of Mentor-on-the-Lake, passed away Thursday, Oct. 5, 2023, at Louis Stokes Wade Park VA Hospital in Cleveland.
    Born March 7, 1946, in Rosemont, W.Va., he had been a resident of Lake County for most of his life, living in Madison, Perry and Eastlake before moving to Mentor-on-the-Lake.
    Richard was raised on the family farm in Madison and upon his graduation from high school, joined the U.S. Marine Corps, where he proudly served his country and continued to be a proud Marine his entire life. He was a member of ATU, Marine Corps League, V.F.W., DAV, American Legion and the 40/8. Richard especially loved the Fairport Games and the players, earning him the beloved nickname, “Pops.” He was also a Browns, Guardians and NASCAR fan.
    Mr. Miller was a motorcoach operator for 37 years, retiring from Greyhound in 2008. After retiring, he went on to drive for Willo-Transportation in Eastlake.
    He was the beloved husband of Larece Galer Miller; loving father of Tracy L. (Tim) Greenwood of Haines City, Fla., Edward Dean Miller of Painesville Township, Richard Lee Miller of Belle Isle, Fla., and Catherine Diane (Cameron) Lopez of Chantilly, Va.; cherished grandfather of Megan Rudloff, Justin, Jake and James Miller, and Brody Lopez; dear brother of Otis Ray Miller and Roger A. Miller; and uncle of many.
    Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Bernice (nee McCauley) Miller; brother, Bruce William Miller; and son-in-law, Ernesto Valenzuela.
    Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), in Mentor, with a service and military honors at 6:30 p.m.
    In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name are suggested to the Marine Corps Heritage Association, Tunnel to Towers Foundation or Wounded Warriors Project.
