James N. Hollis, 67, of Fallentimber, passed away Thursday morning, September 28, 2023 at UPMC Altoona, after an extended illness. He was born November 18,1955 in Altoona, a son of the late Harold G. and Nellie (Shaffer) Hollis. On Feb. 13, 1981, he married Carol L. Holland in Maryland.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol; three sons, Michael J. (fiancée, Ann) of Vilonia, Arkansas, Brian B. (Lauren) of 9 Mile Falls, Washington, and Kevin P. (Mandee) of Coalport; five grandchildren, Angelina, Evan, Aedan, Olin and Rosalie; and three siblings, John H. (Dianna) of Centerville, Thomas S. of Hollentown and Evelyn E. (Ken) Noel of Fallentimber. He was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia J. Hollis.
Jim served with the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era and continued his service with the Pennsylvania Air National Guard, retiring in 2015 at the rank of Master Sergeant after 30 years of service. He later retired as a heavy equipment mechanic at WW Engine, Kylertown, with 30 years service. He formerly attended Grace Alive Church of Altoona and currently attended Fiske Community Bible Church, Fallentimber.
Jim enjoyed vegetable gardening, building model airplanes, working in his garage, and watching television, especially baseball, football and old western shows. His greatest joy was traveling to visit his beloved grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm, Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood; and from 10 to 11am Monday, Oct. 2, 2023 at Fiske Community Bible Church, Fallentimber. A funeral service, with military honors, will be held 11am Monday at the church, with Pastors Dean Dietrick and John Hollis officiating.
