Olivia Ruth McGuinn, 80, of Asheville, passed away on September 16, 2023 at Care Partners Hospice Solace Center.

Olivia was born March 6, 1943 in Newport News, VA to the late Georgia Ruth Clements Penland and Oliver Cromwell Penland. At an early age, her family moved to Buncombe County where she lived the rest of her life. Olivia was a caregiver for her parents and many people in their later years. She was a devout Christian, and she enjoyed spending time at the lake with family, traveling, and her fur babies. Olivia was blessed to welcome her first great grandchild in 2022. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Stanley Bradshaw Moore, III “Shaw”.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 55 years, Charles McGuinn; brothers, Richard Carlton Penland of Clover, SC and Gerald Franklin Penland of Swannanoa, NC; and grandchildren, Dylan Jackson Moore and wife, Lacey Watkins Moore and their son, Rowen Shaw Moore of Westminster, SC; Colton Garrett Moore of Marion, NC, and Holly Caitlyn Moore of Conover, NC.

The family will receive friends Friday, September 22, 2023 from 1:00 to 2:00pm at Harwood Home for Funerals and Cremation Services. A celebration of life service will immediately follow at the funeral home with Richard Carlton Penland speaking.
