    Gloria Jean (Kempfer) Postma, 79, of Newton died on Friday, October 6, 2023, at her home. The family will greet friends from 2:30-4 p.m., Friday, October 13, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials to Willowbrook Adult Day Care may be left at the funeral home.

    Gloria, the daughter of Marion Lester and Eleanor Mae (Lewis) Kempfer, was born on August 12, 1944 in Madison, Wisconsin. She grew up in Madison and graduated from East High School in 1962. After graduation she worked for Simpson’s Clothing on the Madison square. Gloria was united in marriage with William Postma on October 17, 1964 while he was stationed at Truax Field AFB. In 1966, they moved to his home state of Iowa and lived in Newton, Kellogg, Bloomfield, and Drakeville before returning to Newton. During that time Gloria did office work, was a retail clerk, and a waitress. She later enjoying selling items on EBAY. Bill and Gloria were blessed with three children, William Brant, Stephen, and JoAnn.

    Gloria is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Postma of Newton; children, William Brant Postma of Lawrence, Kansas, Stephen (Irene) Postma of Ellsworth, and JoAnn McGee of West Des Moines; grandchildren, Abby and Wyatt McGee and Tyler and John Postma; her siblings, Gene (Phyllis) Kempfer, Dennis (Marilyn) Kempfer, Melvin (Anna) Kempfer, and Greg (Mary) Kempfer; sisters-in-law, Rosalie Berry and Lucille Sheesley; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion Kempfer and Eleanor Davidson; sisters, Beverly, Bonnie, Gail, and Susan in infancy; and a brother, David.
