We are sad to announce that Dr. Anthony Ante Stampalia passed away at the Broward Hospital on October 9th 2023 at the age of 75. He lost his battle with cancer prematurely due an adverse reaction from immunology treatment. He kept his battle quiet but fought vigorously without ever losing hope.

His fight embodied his personality. He kept his struggle private, never desiring to weigh anyone down with the “burden” of sympathy. His way forward was always an unyielding resolve to conquer anything with intense focus and incessant effort. Everything was always possible, and no matter what obstacles were in the way, he was never afraid to leap into the unknown. As he emigrated to the United States from Croatia in the late 80s, he arrived with nothing but his will to outwork anyone. He took that leap to avoid an upcoming war and provide a better future for his family. His focus was never on himself and he lived his life modestly. He was not afraid to restart his medical education in his middle age. Nothing was a problem for him and he possessed youthful energy all his life. Although originally a practicing Opthalmologist in Croatia, he grew his expertise to become board certified in Internal Medicine in the United States. For many years he operated a private practice and served as a primary care physician in the city of Boca Raton. His approach to medicine was based on his small city roots where every patient is a person first. He always dedicated the maximum time for each of his patients and the healing he tried to provide was beyond medicine. Even after the sale of his practice, he continued to practice medicine, never having truly retired.

Dr. Stampalia lost this battle, but he won beautifully in life. He won the respect and admiration of people he came in contact with, but most importantly he won by building a happy family who cherishes all their moments with him. He is survived by his wife Zrinka, his children Anthony and Helen, his grandchildren Anthony, Matthew, Jonathan, Mila and Olivia who will miss him forever.

Now that this battle is over, all of us are reassured by the peace that he now finds in the heavens with the company of his brother, sister and his parents.
