COLE, Dr. Arthur Huntley
June 23, 1930 – September 22, 2023

Dr. Arthur Huntley Cole, of Picton, passed away peacefully at the Belleville General Hospital on Friday, September 22, 2023 at the age of 93. He will be missed dearly by his beloved wife Judy, as well as his children Richard Cole (Isabella Cole), Leslie Cole (Edward Mahood), and Susan Cole (Stephen Graham), all of his grandchildren Leslie Axel Cole (Tamara Grahlmann); Caitlin Kinnear (Michael de Raaf), Lucy Coulombe (Marc Coulombe) and William Kinnear (Vanessa Kinnear); Wesley Skyler Graham (Emma Wilkins), and Summer Graham (Dustin Wenus), and his great-grandchildren Evelynne and Ewan Kinnear, Malcolm de Raaf, and Iris Graham Wilkins. Arthur will also be missed by Judy’s children Mark Pankratz (Heather Pankratz), Christopher Pankratz (Laura Rowley), Tony Pankratz (Chrisanne Pankratz), and Cindy Pankratz, as well as her grandchildren Mercedes and Tristan; Alicia and Ethan; Karl, Jacqueline and Kimberly; and Sebastian Pankratz. Arthur was predeceased by his adored wife Nancy Anne Cole (d. 1996).

Many members of the community throughout the County will share in the grief of our family, especially the congregation of St. Phillip’s Anglican Church where Arthur was a longstanding member and formerly served as the Churchwarden, and the Music at Port Milford camp which he supported as a member of the board in the past.

Dr. Cole graduated from the University of Toronto Medical School in 1955, and practiced as an anesthesiologist at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto. He was known for his bedside manner and compassionate and comforting care of his patients. Dr. Cole left practice in 1995 and settled into a happy retirement in Prince Edward County. He was a true fan of spending time in his greenhouse and fishing on his boat, watching the Toronto Blue Jays, and ending the day with a large bowl of good vanilla ice cream. Arthur will long be remembered as a true gentleman, with a twinkle in his eye and a
cheeky grin on his face.

Dr. Cole rested at Rushnell Funeral Homes – Picton Chapel, 33 Main Street (613-476-2450) for memorial visitation on Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held in St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, 244 Main Street, Wellington, Prince Edward County on Friday, October 13, 2023 at 11 a.m. A Livestream Link of the Memorial Service will be available closer to the Service date and found on the memorial webpage. Interment of cremated remains will be held at a later date.
