    James R. (Jim) Waller, 91, of Little Falls, passed away on September 25, 2023, in North Carolina after living there for the last year in a Nursing Home where his son, Tony works. Funeral Services will take place at 11:30 am on Friday, October 6, 2023, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls. A visitation will take place one hour prior to services, and interment will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery following the service.

    Jim was born on December 8, 1931, in Eureka, MT to Robert and Beatrice (Stephan) Waller. He grew up in Long Prairie graduating with the Class of 1950 from Long Prairie High School. On June 25, 1955, he was married to Genevieve Wolf. After serving in the Army at Fort George G. Mead Maryland, where he received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal, he went back to school and received his Bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University, his Master’s degree from the University of Minnesota, and his Doctorate degree from the University of Cincinnati. He worked as a Professor of Microbiology from 1966-1995 at the University of North Dakota Medical School, before retiring to Little Falls. In retirement, Jim and Gen restored the Tanner House into the Waller House Bed and Breakfast, and traveled the world. Jim enjoyed hunting Mule deer and Antelope in Montana and fishing in Minnesota. He was a valued member of the Lions, and enjoyed spending his time volunteering, doing yardwork and gardening.

    Jim is survived by his children; Tony, Bob, Lori, Steve, Gail, Chris, and Tom, 15 grandchildren; brother Bill and sister Ann.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Gen, son David, an infant daughter, and grandson Jimmy.

    Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Randall.
