Iva Hulse Rupe, 96, of Louisville, KY , went to her heavenly home on October 6, 2023 after a brief illness. Mrs. Rupe moved to Louisville in 2018 to be near her daughter, but was a lifelong resident of Kingsport, TN.

Iva attended Fall Branch High School and then later attended Whitney Business School. Mrs. Rupe was employed by the Traffic Department at Tennessee Eastman Company and then later in the Training Department of TEC.

Iva was an active member of Mafair United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school, was a member of the Altar Guild, and was very active in the United Methodist Women. She also enjoyed going on trips with the Young at Heart group.

During her later years, Iva’s Rook games were legendary with her friends.

Iva was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Oma Brown Hulse; her loving husband of 51 years, James (Jim) Rupe; her sisters, Mrs. Sylvia Eslinger, Mrs. Frances Childress, Mrs. Ruth Long, and Mrs. Vera Maltsberger; her brothers, James Hulse and Orville Hulse.

Iva is survived by her daughter, Mitzi Rupe Carr; grandsons, Mark Carr and Nathan Carr (Ashlee); brother, Robert (Bob) Hulse; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow.

Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park.
Memorial gifts may be made in Iva’s memory to Mafair United Methodist Church or the United Methodist Women.
