Richard L. “Rich” Buck, 75, of Windsor, died on Sunday, September 24, at home with his family by his side. He was born October 6, 1947, in Springfield to Edward Buck and Marjorie (Burke) Ribaudo. He grew up in Enfield where he was a 1966 graduate of Enfield High School. He enlisted and proudly served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War where he attained rank of Sergeant. He was awarded a Purple Heart while on active duty. He worked for Genalco in Springfield for many years and retired from the USPS in Florida. Rich and his wife Sue lived in Florida for 30 happy years until she passed away and he moved back home. Rich was a devoted fan of all sports, and if he wasn’t playing, he was watching them. He played baseball throughout his youth and early adulthood. He especially loved the Red Sox and was a season ticket holder at their spring training stadium in Fort Myers. In his adult years Rich loved to golf. He and Sue golfed together while she was able and he spent as much time golfing with his friends in FL and CT as possible. Richard is survived by his children; Kathleen Griffin, Suzanne Buck, Sally Levine and her husband Steven with whom he made his home for the last 3 ½ years, Heather Aybar and Scott Hossack and his wife Ashley; his brother Edward Buck and his wife Karen; his sister, Kathleen “Sis” Sikes; 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He will also be missed by his great friends Dave Ingraham, Roy Nash, and Joe Ciriello. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Sue (Tozier) Buck in 2019, his son-in-law, Mike Griffin, his brothers-in-law, Brian Sikes and Steven Tozier and stepfather Anthony Ribaudo. Relatives and friends may join the family on Friday, September 29, 2023, from 10am – 12pm at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd, Enfield, followed by a graveside service at Somers Center Cemetery, Battle St, Somers. As a lifelong Red Sox fan, the family requests donations to The Jimmy Fund in Richard’s memory.
