Harvey Clifford (Cliff) Carlson, passed away on October 3, 2023, at the age of 99.

Cliff was born August 29, 1924, in Three Forks, Montana, to William and Bertha Carlson, He had an early passion for dentistry and dedicated his life to the field. He attended UMKC, Graceland University, the University of Kansas, and the University of Montana to further his education. Cliffs hard work and dedication paid off as he earned his DDS degree and embarked on a fulfilling career as a dentist.

Cliff took great pride in not only practicing dentistry but also in educating future dental professionals. He joined the faculty of UMKC as a professor, where he taught countless students. His commitment to dental education shaped the lives and careers of many aspiring dentists. Additionally, Cliff had a Masters in Microbiology and taught the subject to nursing students online for many years.

Outside of his professional life, Cliff had numerous hobbies and interests. He loved reading and became knowledgeable across many subjects. His sharp mind found pleasure in solving crossword puzzles while enjoying the company of game shows on television. Cliff had a love of sweets, especially snickers bars, and would never turn down some Norwegian chocolate. Cliff also managed to master the piano and the violin, collected stamps and had a coin collection. He was a man of many interests.

Cliff was a man of God and was very active in the Ridgewood, (now Good Shepherd), Community of Christ church since the early 1960’s and held the office of Elder.

Cliff was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife; Ragnhild of 63 years, two sons, Jon Carlson (Delanne) of Oak Grove and Jim Carlson (LisaKay) of Lee’s Summit, 5 Grandchildren and 8 Great-Grandchildren. Cliff is also survived by his sister, Wilma Higginbotham of Independence and 2 Nephews and 2 Nieces. The love for his family and their love for him was very evident. He is already greatly missed.

Visitation services will be held on October 28, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Good Shepherd Community of Christ located at 4341 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO, 64133. A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 PM.
