lisa Hallof, 60, Minot, ND formerly of Antler, ND, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 8, 2023, in a Minot hospital with her family by her side.

Alisa Marie Hallof was born on February 13, 1963, to Rodney and Joanne (Scheid) Tennyson in Minot, ND. Alisa was educated in the Antler and Westhope communities, having graduated from Westhope High School in 1981, and then attending college at Minot State University.

Alisa eventually made her home in Minot and at one time was united in marriage to Chester Hallof, also from Antler, ND. Together, Alisa and Chester shared three children, Nicole, Chester III, and Jason. They made their home in Antler, and finally, Minot. Alisa and Chester remained friends for the remainder of their lives.

Alisa served families as a daycare provider for many, many years from her home in Minot. Her love of children, and their care, never wavered in her entire life. Most of her daycare children thought of her as Grandma, and the friends of her children (whether they were kids, teenagers, and even as adults themselves) thought of Alisa as another ‘Mom’. Alisa was always ready to greet you with banana bread, a scotcharooo, hotdish with butter bread, or a listening ear, no matter what. Her home was truly a ‘home’ to many, during many times of their lives.

Alisa loved her family above all else, and there was always extra love to share, for anyone else who might need it. She enjoyed creating memories with her three children, ten grandchildren, parents, and her four sisters. Special times together included playing board games or cards, traveling to grandchildren’s sporting events, music events or birthday parties, laughing hysterically, and traveling to Arizona and many other places with her mother and sisters for adventures. Alisa was blessed with artistic ability much like that of her mother, Joanne Tennyson. She was a skilled artist, and her beautiful drawings are now treasures that her family will hold in reverence for a lifetime.

Alisa was also a skilled cake crafter—she had the artistic ability to create the most beautiful cakes and cupcakes. There was not much she could not recreate, or at least attempt. From cakes shaped like Bobcat Skid steers, to cakes shaped like Tree Stumps, there was little (if anything) she could not replicate. Alisa prepared the most delicious cakes (not too sweet, not too dry) for many events and for many years; for retirement parties, graduations, weddings, birthdays, and of course her biggest highlight, for the birthday parties of her grandchildren. The most recent cake she made was a Barbie Doll and the entire interior of the cake lit up!

Alisa had a kindness like no other—it did not matter who you were or where you were from, Alisa made a home for you. Alisa was a true example of kindness, caring, and love, through and through. She was the most optimistic person her family knew, even though she had been through some of the toughest things. She had a childlike innocence about her that allowed her to always see the good in every situation.

Alisa was a member of The Pursuit Church, Minot, where she faithfully worshipped over the last 5 years, a former member of Our Redeemers Church, Minot, and a former member of Bethel Lutheran Brethen Church, Antler. Alisa is survived by her three loving children, Nicole (Tyler) Holmes, Chet (Maria) Hallof, and Jason (Marie) Hallof, all of Minot; nine grandchildren, Adayla, Ryder & Brody (Nicole); CJ, Nina, Ezra and Rose (Chet); Noelle, Garrett, and Emmy, (Jason), all of Minot; and her four loving sisters, Lynette (Ron) Pederson, Fargo, ND, Anita Tennyson, Cherie (Vern) Korgel, Shelly Muehlenbeck, all of Peoria, AZ; honorary and lifelong friend Kira Hallof, Tennessee, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, and friends who will all miss her, their shining light, so dearly.

Alisa was preceded in death by her parents; Rodney and Joanne Tennyson, infant siblings, Mark Tennyson and Valerie Tennyson; once husband and lifelong friend, Chester Hallof; and grandmother, Rose Fisher.

There will be a service in Celebration of Alisa’s Life at the Pursuit, Minot, on September 22, 2023, at 1 PM. In true Alisa fashion, there will be cake, goodies and coffee served at the Pursuit to follow her Celebration of Life, immediately followed by burial at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Alisa will be remembered for all the kindness she shared with her family and friends. She truly loved each of them, and if you knew her, you knew it. Alisa’s family wishes to thank the staff at Trinity Health Fourth Floor, for all the time they spent with Alisa, even though it was short, and for the care they gave during the heartbreaking final moments of Alisa’s amazing life. Alisa’s family also wishes to thank their friends and family for their unwavering support during this difficult time. Alisa was their sunshine, their bright light, which will be kept burning brightly in her memory.
