    Jerry Robert Holmes, 76, of Cloverdale, passed away Friday, September 1st, 2023. He was born December 17st, 1946 in Linton, Indiana to his parents Robert Russell and Helen (Richmond) Holmes. He married Sandy Kay (Rosemeyer) Holmes on February 4th, 1995.

    Jerry is survived by his wife, Sandy Kay Holmes of Cloverdale; two children: Andrea (Matt) Noufer of Colorado and Scott Holmes of Pittsboro; seven grandchildren: Tyler, Madelynn, Matthew, Malloree, Brody, Austin, and Addison; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Jerry is preceded in death by both of his parents; and two brothers: Scott and Kenny Holmes.

    Jerry was a 1966 graduate of Decatur Central High School and attended Indiana State University. He later joined the United States Marine Corps where he served during the Vietnam War. Jerry discharged in 1967 as a Lance Corporal. He was a proud veteran and a purple heart recipient. Jerry initiated weekly Veteran's reunion luncheons. He was a Truck Driver for Neier Trucking in Indianapolis. Jerry was a member of The Cataract Yacht Club for 40 years, Avon American Legion Post #145 and Greencastle VFW Post #1550. He loved boating, partying, dancing, military reunions, and spending time with family and friends. Jerry was known by many as a loyal, loving, and kind hearted man and a friend to everyone he met. He was always the life of the party and always the last man standing. Jerry loved and was loved in return by so many.

    Family and friends may show their love and support during the memorial gathering from 11 am - 1 pm, Monday, September 18, 2023 at Jones Crossing Banquet Center 4161 East Allison Rd. Mooresville, IN 46158, next to Jones Family Mortuary. Pastor Tony Cannon will officiate the celebration of life service following the gathering at 1 pm at the banquet center.
