Barry Hollander, of Columbia, Maryland, passed away on Monday, October 2nd, 2023 at the age of 78. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lois Hollander; his loving children, Julie (Evan) Hershman, and Lisa (Kyle) Derby; and his grandchildren, Sophie Derby, and Asher Hershman. He was predeceased by his parents, Gertrude (nee Hochberg) & Edward Hollander.

Barry enjoyed a wide range of hobbies, especially cycling, horseback riding, teaching math, and rock n roll music from the 50s and 60s. He enjoyed his work and celebrated over 50 years with the Department of Defense. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and of course dogs.

Services at Columbia Memorial Park, 12005 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD 21029, on Monday, October 9th, 2023 at 10:00 am. Please omit flowers. Contributions in his memory may be sent to Howard County Animal Control & Adoption Center, 8576 Davis Road, Columbia, MD 21045, or to the charity of your choice. The family will be holding a virtual minyan service by zoom, on Monday October 9th, Tuesday October 10th, Wednesday October 11th, and Thursday October 12th at 7:30pm. The family will be sitting shiva on Tuesday, October 10th at Brightview Columbia, 6670 Martin Rd, Columbia, MD 21044, beginning at 7:15pm, with a hybrid minyan service by shiva and zoom at 7:30pm.
