Betty's funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at the funeral home. Memorials to Progress Industries or The Salvation Army can be left at the funeral home.
Betty J. (Stevens) Dryer, the daughter of Fred and Bernice (Morris) Stevens, was born April 8, 1935, in Eddyville. She married Darrell Dryer on February 11, 1951. To this union, 3 daughters were born. Betty was a cook at the Elks Lodge for many years. She then worked in the kitchen and later the laundry department at the Jasper County Care Facility. After she retired, she enjoyed cleaning homes and apartments, several of which were at Progress Industries. Betty was also a member of the United Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed having coffee with her friends, playing cards and Bingo, and Saturday night suppers with Jack.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Connie and Dave Horsley of Boca Raton, Florida and Deanna and Jeff Iske of Newton; son-in-law, Gary Marshall of Newton; her 8 grandchildren: Brian (Alisa) Marshall, Jody (Mark) Stiles, Paul (Leti) Newell, Christine Newell, Morgan Iske (Travis Mallo), Beau (Emily) Iske, Mallory Iske (Brooks McDermott), and Blake Iske; her great-grandchildren: Liam Newell-Price, Evan Marshall, Kaden Marshall, Sadie Stiles, Sidney Stiles, Sawyer McDermott, and Waylon Iske; many nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Jack Wright.
