    Dr. Richard “Doc” Campbell, DVM, 91, of Lubbock, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday evening, October 5, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Dr. Campbell was born on April 29, 1932, in Palmer, Merrick County, Nebraska, to the late Harold Campbell and Elma (Weber) Campbell.

    He attended Palmer High School, where he graduated with the senior class of 1950. Following high school, he entered the United States Navy, from 1950 to 1954, and was honorably discharged. He attended Iowa State University, graduating in 1962 with his Doctor of Veterinary degree. He practiced in Minnesota for 24 years, before retiring in 1986.

    He met the love of his life, Marjorie Jacobsen, and they were united in marriage on May 16, 1952, in Dannebrog, Nebraska.

    Doc’s number one hobby and pleasure was fishing, along with hunting, intramural sports while he was in the Navy, and watching his favorite football team play, the Green Bay Packers. He was a member of Southcrest Baptist Church.

    Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his wife, Marj; one son, Richard Campbell and his wife Susan of Holland, Michigan; one daughter, Cheryl Roberson of Lubbock; one brother, John Campbell of Lincoln, Nebraska; three grandchildren: Joshua Campbell, Mark Roberson and Michael Roberson; two great-grandchildren: Hayleigh Roberson and Wesson Roberson. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Helen Campbell and Barbara Sorenson.

    Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, October 21, 2023, in the Chapel of Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park. Inurnment will follow in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park. Dudley Bristow will be the officiant.

    In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Gideons or to the Greater Building Fund at Southcrest Baptist Church.
