After a long battle with lung disease, local author Cecil Paul passed September 22, 2023, with loving wife and family by his side. He had a successful career of 35 years with the department of national defense, then a 6 year stint at Tim Hortons, where he was well known for his deep resounding voice. Cecil was an avid NASCAR fan and loved the Blue Jays and Maple Leafs. He coached a Tim Hortons men’s league baseball team and was inducted into the wall of fame at Brighton Speedway. He was the CSBRA of the local soap box derby association and raced his wheelchair with Rick Hanson in his spare time. He liked to build model ships. Cecil spent 16 years on the board of the M.S. Society, and he wrote a weekly column for an Oregon newspaper called “Our Northern Neighbour.”
Cecil will be greatly missed by his loving wife Gloria, and his children Lynn Clarke (Stan), Steven Paul (Sherri), Wayne Paul (Deb), Jaime Paul, Denise Nicholls (Doug), and David Hogue (Pam). Predeceased by his brothers John and Don. Ever remembered by his 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Foster Ward Community Centre on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 1:00pm. Rev. Canon Dr. David Robson officiating. If desired, memorial donations to Wheelchairs for Hope or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
